While poetic, this doesn't seem true at all. I don't see any evidence in the old testament that God made his people any more rich materially or physically than the godless. Nor do I see any material or physical difference today. For example, "28 The possessions of his house will be carried away, dragged off in the day of God's wrath". The chapter isn't solely about material things, the post mortem statements seem accurate enough.

It sort of seems true. I think where he starts to go wrong is in verse 15 and 23. All of these punishments for the wicked he ascribes to God's anger. However, seems to me that most of the consequences here on earth are natural consequences not punishment from God. There are a few exceptions. Ananias and Sapphira come to mind, as well as number of people in the old testament. But most of these seemed specific instances to be used as an example. But plenty of wicked people roam and have roamed the earth without any perceived divine punishment.
