A chapter about salvation, but I realized for the first time that salvation in the context of the Jewish people was usually physical. We talk about salvation now mostly about our soul. I guess the point is looking at the Bible as a whole salvation is whole, physical and spiritual in the sense we have no need to fear death. I'm not sure why the Israelites did so much, but there isn't a lot of mention of Heaven if any that I can remember. But choosing Yahweh was certainly choosing life. We just have a better idea of what that looks like now than they did.

Exalt and praise for wonderful things God has done. I've heard the phrase 'God is not a personal genie in a bottle' but to the Israelites He sort of was. Now he's given us less material benefit, but arguably better freedom from guilt, shame, and judgment.
