I'm not quite sure what I just read or how to interpret it properly. Seems like there are many contradictions with the rest of the Bible. For example, God taking pleasure in destroying His people. Just a couple that I looked up real quick. Ezekiel 18:23, NKJV Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? says the Lord GOD, and not that he should turn from his ways and live?
Ezekiel 18:31-32, NKJV Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies, says the Lord GOD. Therefore turn and live!
Also this just doesn't seem like an actual threat as the Israelites of course do tons of these things and while some of these things may happen the majority do not to the majority of the people. We know that Israel has a troubled history, but they are not wiped out.
So where does that leave this chapter? Moses just doing some creative and motivational speech writing?

63 “Just as the Lord has found great pleasure in causing you to prosper and multiply, the Lord will find pleasure in destroying you.
That was the verse.
As far as the prophecy, I think I was reading the whole thing wrong... looking at it from an individual perspective and not a collective. I knew that all Israelites were disobedient at some point yet these prophecies didn't happen to them or they'd be dead. If you perspective shift to looking at the Israelites as a whole and referencing a specific event it does make more sense.

Carrot and stick in no uncertain terms. Is life still that simple? Doesn't feel like it most days.

Oops. That wasn't meant to be a reply.
