Job is describing the life we pray for! Because of course we don't straight pray for wealth and comfort. We pray for the resources we need to be like Job is here :) Like Job I don't want to be the fatherless who needs a father, but you could definitely find me asking God for enough resources that I can let it spill over to help people. Maybe I should start praying more for them to get the resources to help me. It would be hard for all those people, seeing their mentor and trusted advisor, maybe financial shelter... collapse into ruin without ever doing anything you could point to as wrong. Even worse, see that most of his friends got whacked off with some lightning from heaven. I'd probably keep my distance even if he had helped me out of a tight spot.

Some real feelings from Job after his friends who once respected him are now attacking him. Job expresses abandonment on several fronts, the only one I think we know of is that in verse 2 of God watching over him. Is that something we need to pray for? Did Job pray for that before he lost it? Or does it just come with the territory and Job is a special case. I'll pray for it anyway, the darkness facing Job is not something I ever want to experience.
