What am I missing. They had two choices, stay in the land of milk and honey and high hill and leafy tree, or bow down to Egyptian idols. What on earth would ever make them choose the idols... I don't even understand what the draw was. If anything, it seemed like they might look to the idols for favor of physical blessing? But from what I understand God already gave them physical blessing if that's what milk and honey means. A selfish motive would seem to posit an opposite result. My only conclusion is that they were very confused.

I think what I found interesting from this chapter, was in reference to your #2. We are selfish creatures of habit... I'm not understanding what self serving purpose the idols served them? Was it community acceptance/peer pressure?

Along the same lines as Greg, I think of the greatest rule to love God with all your heart soul strength and mind.
