I think one of the difficult things about our culture is that people have been told the bus is coming at them already. For most people I know, its a trite message. I think one of the great things happening at Northside as you and Greg mentioned is that we are showing people rather than telling people. Showing vs. telling is creative writing 101 and it seems applicable here as well. I think the concept has also been true in my reading of the Bible. You can read it all you want, but sometimes it can be empty. It takes action and live experience to bring meaning to the words.

Only the wise will understand this passage says. Does God make us wise? Or is it a choice. I know we can ask for wisdom, that's a choice. We can seek wisdom, that's a choice. But wisdom is also a major component in making the right choice. It's a paradox. We need wisdom to make the choice to become wise but we need to be wise to make the choices that lead to wisdom.
