Just yesterday I was listening to someone talking about stories (a secular business guy) and he brought up the Bible as the most well known books in the world. He's a stats guy and brought up some crazy figure I don't remember about how the majority of people can't come up with the ten commandments or even a portion of the ten. Yet all of those people can tell you the story of Noah, of Adam and Eve, of Pharaoh and the Israelite slaves. God made us this way, and communicates to us this way. I'm always looking for deep meaning, but maybe its simple. Maybe this story is just as it says, so Israel would know he was God. The survival of these stories should probably be miracle enough for me but I wouldn't complain if God showed showed in no uncertain terms his power over the natural world in such a way in our lifetime.
