With 5 kids the odds are stacked against me for something terrible to happen. Events like that always make me more fearful. Death gets a very casual treatment in the Bible from what I can tell and maybe that's appropriate given the temporal nature of this life. Still we can't help fear it or even worse I think fear the loss of loved ones. From this chapter, the first verses stuck out to me. 59:1 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. Our iniquity is dealt with, I know that. But still, I don't think we can deny that sin impacts our relationship with God. A couple chapters ago Isaiah was talking about making choices between good and evil. I think attitudes and mindsets that we adopt are equally if not more impactful than our daily choices. Yahweh change me continually, deeply so that I can win wars not just battles, and find peace.
