The last paragraph of this chapter warns of the dangers of excess and getting lost in yourself. I'm in the middle of Aldous Huxley "Brave New World" for the first time and the people in this futuristic advanced society were mocking the Christians of the past for restricting their passions. The main character though loses desire for anything because their excess and passion is unrestricted and he gets lost in himself just as this verse warns. Kinda cool, secular book but definitely inspired philosophy from the Bible that Aldous is wrestling with. He can't see the logic in what God asks short term or from a very intellectual or logical perspective but in the society of his book he puts the pieces together that certainly paint some of the consequences of a world without Christian influence.
