Tough night for Moses I'm sure. I'm not sure if something can be "hard" for God but God does have some type of emotional system and it had to be at a low having to uphold the punishment on Moses who He clearly had a special relationship. Though I guess God is outside of time so... just scratch everything I've said. Things we do have consequences. One of my kids right now is undergoing some long term consequences imposed by his dad and his thoughts are consumed with trying to somehow get back those lost freedoms. What sort of long term consequences might I be suffering from. I think its good to get introspective about those things everyone once in a while. To stand up on the hill like Moses. He knew there was no going back, but up there I think he had a good perspective of both the past and it helped him shape his attitude of the future and the future of his people.

I don't think God punishes us anymore, but I think the lesson remains. When we don't trust in God we miss out. For me the hard part is sometimes knowing what things to leave in God's trust. The obvious answer may seem like everything... but practically that just isn't true. I don't trust God to get my kids on the bus in the morning and I don't trust him to keep me alive. I do trust him to take care of my family if I die. Would be interesting to create a list of things I can and should be trusting God daily with.
