Work has got me swamped (Like workin around the clock!) so I didn't get to these previous 3 chapters today. Those were some interesting numbers Greg, $43 mil actually doesn't seem like all that much, probably quite a few mega churches out there that are up there. I can't quite find the right words but the history of the tabernacle has got me a thinking a little bit. Why was it so important that we have such detail about it? Right now it's buried in the ground somewhere or decayed. I guess it makes me sad. God gave it to them and I suppose left it for them to take care of and they just dropped the ball. A lot of God's gifts seem that way. They are free for us to take and do what we want with, but we don't always make the best choices.

The Egyptians!

My grandpa used to have a closet in his house that he setup special for spending time with God. It wasn't fancy, but as I'm reading about the tabernacle I'm wondering about the connection we feel with God in physical places being stronger than others. There's a fiction book I read a while back called American Gods where the old norse Gods roam the earth and their have centers of power of roadside attractions across the US. I've relegated most mystical elements of Christianity to fiction like this, but I think maybe I need to open my mind a little bit more the realms of the spiritual and physical interconnecting more, not in a new age context but in a historical biblical context perhaps.
