That's some serious lamentation. Was this punishnent? Or like Greg hinted at natural consequences. I'm not sure but I'm glad we have a different covenant. The world is full of suffering. For many born in the wrong place at the wrong time. God give them rest and guide them to peace.

Along the lines of your comment gratefulness Greg. Sometimes we are waiting for something good, other times we may be digging ourselves out of a hole we've dug due to sin. Both require patience and trusting. It's amazing, to me even. Thinking a month away seems forever. I can't imagine 70 years the Israelites were waiting. Though as slaves to the Egyptians it was even longer if I remember. I think wisdom in understanding the role time plays in our lives can only come from God.
