This chapter put a few things into perspective. What do we call great about people in leadership today. We measure how they improved the lives of their followers, how they helped them grow, transform into something better. Back in these days, pretty much good leadership seemed to boil down to how many bad guys you could kill. Which I suppose in its way provided security for the nation to grow. I mean I guess that all had to be part of God's plan for them. In my feeble mind it seems like it would have been nice for that to not be part of his plan and for them to have nice lives like we do where mighty men are not measured by the amount of pagan scalps decorating the front lawn. I do wonder, if someday in the future the Bible gets a few new books cannoned into it and there is a book about our time... what would it say, who would be the star? it might be kinda boring in comparison.
