This story doesn't give us a lot to chew on here. But I have to wonder, was David relying on his wits to save him rather than God? Is there a difference? Whats our modern day predicament? I think it could be anything that makes us afraid although for most of us middle class folk it tends to be security or health related. I remember from a past post from Doug on trusting God that if we're stranded on an island and we're praying for help and a boat passes by to jump on the boat, or something to that affect. Maybe sometimes those life rafts from God come in the form of ideas sometimes? In this case, God gave David the idea to act coo coo? It just isn't quite the expectation I have of a model for trusting God. I picture something a little more heroic, like maybe a grandstand speech of him telling Saul or the king of Gath that he fears no evil and his God will deliver him and smite them to dust.

This is one if those chapters I wish was a little more straightforward. Was David don't the right thing here? Doesn't seem like a particularly Godly action pretending to be mad. But who knows?
