Itchy ears... I know what you are saying but its not always easy to combat. We all have a worldview and a lens through which we read the Bible that is constructed of an endless variety of factors from our experience and personality. I have to think that God designed it this way so that we would be "different parts of the body". I also think that God leads me in some ways through different journeys where I may be "itching" for everything I find on a particular topic and everything I read shapes my view of that particular issue or aspect of God, etc. Maybe its why and how I should pray, maybe what level of self sacrifice is healthy, maybe what it really means to love God. My parents won't go to any church that teaches topically because they feel strongly that the Bible can be made to say anything you want and that the temptation to do this is lessened by a verse by verse approach. Ultimately I've come to the conclusion I just have to trust that if I'm seeking the truth God will lead me to it.
