3 Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. God doesn't promise a life frolicking in the roses, but he is our rock that can keep us emotionally capable of handling a life that's not quite the garden of Eden, though it does have its joys.

David was a King and had the same troubles we all do and needed God just as much as the rest of us. It's tempting to think that a change in our position in life will ease our burdens. I don't remember where I heard it but somewhere that you don't get rid of problems you just trade them up as you move through life and your responsibility grows. We will always need to cry out to God like David does in the chapter, how often we surrender to it though is probably our real problem.
