Now that's a spanking.

Seems like we are different today to me. The Jews were in outright rebellion and appeared to want nothing to do with God. Yeah, the church isn't perfect, but for the most part well meaning.

And it stays early! The notorious terrible twos, deciding its time to do it my way. It's interesting because I really try to teach my kids independence. I think thats good, at least to not be dependent on others, but how do I teach them dependence on God? God doesn't make them breakfast in the morning... Or maybe it's a matter of perspective. But it's sort of a fine line between teaching them to surrender to God's way but making sure that spirit of surrender doesn't migrate into the world's way.

God has done so many good things for the Israelites. But in this last verse he says they will know who I am after desolation. I want to be someone who can recognize and respond to God in good times, and not require calamity.
