I saw a pattern in this chapter that's something I relate to: trust, doubt, patience. He starts by lifting his soul up, crying out for help, and putting his faith in God that a solution will present itself. Then the doubts creep in, you start worrying about being shamed, made a fool, putting your faith in something that was not slated to be. But then you humble yourself and realize that God is always with us in the end, even when we have to wait, and you resign yourself to patience and back to the beginning of the cycle.
Aside from that, vs 14 was interesting to me, 14 The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.
Pretty much it just sounds really insightful but I have no idea what it actually means.

Thanks Rob, my question on vs 14 was more in regards to the conditions for the covenant described in the verse. Here is the specific things that I could use some clarification on,
He makes known his covenent (a secret?) and befriends those who fear him (conditional?)

Greg, I get what you are saying. I think this is just a prayer, a bit of a rambling one and spoken informally and with emotion. I sort of get that way too when I pay. There is so much you can pray for I don't know where to start. And often I end up like David does at the end of this chapter with a catch all.
