In line with some of the other comments and a bit of followup from yesterday's discussion. Daniel did make the intention in his mind to remain Holy. The way he went about it however was very humble. He certainly could have made a stink but he chose instead to appeal to the practical wisdom in it. I think this strategy could go a long way for us as well. A lot of times we are tempted to take up a rallying cry to "make a stand" or be more assertive about our faith in the workplace etc. But perhaps the better route is sometimes to lay low, hold true to your convictions while appealing to the naturally beneficial consequences of God's design. Not always easy to do. I suppose this story might have been more interesting if vegetables made them weaker and Daniel really would have been endangering the king. Praying for everybody tonight, Tony included. On that note, any reason we pray for specific things, rather than just praying for God's will?

Daniel certainly was competent. He both found favor with a Babylonian king and also favor with God. Two opposing masters. I suppose he was clever in tricking the one while serving the other. Though the trick doesn't last long I guess.
